Who we are
The Sextech Research Network is an independent interdisciplinary research community dedicated to the rigorous, ethical, and critical study of sex technology. We bring together academics, practitioners, consumers, designers, sex workers, health professionals, policymakers, and communities to examine how emerging technologies shape human sexuality, intimacy, and embodied experience, with particular attention to equity, access, and lived experience.
What we research
We operate at the intersection of disability studies, ethics, human-computer interaction, design, public health, and critical technology studies. Our work is grounded in the principle that sexuality is a fundamental dimension of human life, and that the technologies shaping intimate experience deserve the same serious research attention as any other domain of technological development.
Sex technology (or sextech)
We research advancements that are technology-driven and intended to improve, innovate, or otherwise alter human sexuality and/or the sexual experience. These include sex robots, virtual and augmented reality, erotic games, smart vibrators, romantic conversational agents, etc.
